FLAVOURS

Taste is everything! My cakes are all homemade using only the finest ingredients. Eggs are from our own much loved brood of free-range organic hens, the butter I use is always “President” french butter, vanilla paste is the Nielsen-Massey brand etc. I’m also lucky enough to have a large garden which I take huge pleasure from and grow numerous herbs, fruits and edible flowers for the cakes.

Most couples have a few different flavours. For example, the most popular is a bottom tier of Tutti Frutti, a middle tier of Lemon Heaven and a top tier of either White Chocolate & Raspberry or Orange & Lavender. I would always encourage you to taste before deciding.

Tasting sessions are available in Gloucestershire (GL5 2UL). For more information on consultations and tasting boxes please see the Ordering page.

THE CLASSIC

Moist, yet light Victoria sponge baked with real vanilla, layered with strawberry jam and vanilla bean buttercream. Popular with all ages.

DECADENT CHOCOLATE

Rich, gooey chocolate cake layered with velvety smooth, dark chocolate ganache. A lot of people have said that this is the best chocolate cake they’ve ever tasted!

LEMON HEAVEN

Zesty lemon sponge soaked with lemon syrup, filled with lemon curd and a lemon icing.

TUTTI FRUTTI

In ‘homage’ to Lola’s cupcakes this is a fun looking cake when sliced with fresh and light blueberry and vanilla sponges layered with a delicious vanilla icing and crushed fresh raspberries. The most popular flavour with couples at consultations (and subsequently most requested).

CARROT

An incredibly moist and light cake, this one is a firm favourite. Made with or without nuts and raisins the cake is full of flavour with the cinnamon, ground ginger, cinnamon and orange zest. Layered with a totally moreish traditional cream cheese frosting - this cake is addictive!

salted caramel

Moist vanilla, caramel and chocolate sponges layered with homemade salted caramel to die for. Very popular!

PEAR & CARDAMON

OMG! This cake is amazing! One word, well three… brown butter icing. Great for winter weddings.

RED VELVET

Very light yet vibrant red sponge with a hint of chocolate layered with a heavenly cream cheese frosting.

RASPberRY RIPPLE

Vanilla sponge with lots of tantalisingly sweet raspberries.

LEMON & ELDERFLOWER

A lovely flavour combination that really works for summer weddings. The sponge has an elderflower sugar syrup (made with BottleGreen elderflower cordial which is made up the road) and the buttercream has a hint of elderflower too.

LEMON & RASPBERRY

Refreshing and zingy this also works really well for summer weddings. The lemon sponge has raspberries baked within it and then the layers are sandwiched with lemon curd.

PISTACHIO

A nutty sponge as both ground pistachios and a pistachio paste are added to a vanilla sponge recipe layered with vanilla buttercream. This works well for winter weddings.

GINGER

Due to popular demand this ginger cake is now my personal all time favourite flavour! I’ve tweaked and tweaked the original recipe so I think this is the best ginger cake you will ever eat. Full of flavour and spices but still incredibly light. A great alternative to the sweeter flavours and a hit with all ages.

STRAWBERRY & CHAMPAGNE

A classic vanilla sponge with champagne syrup layered with strawberry and champagne preserve.

COOKIES & CREAM

It’s delicious! A cookies and cream sponge layered with cookie frosting. Sweet but very tasty!

LOTUS BISCOFF

Calling all Biscoff lovers! This totally moreish, sweet and creamy cake combines layers of caramel sponge layered with a unique Biscoff spread buttercream. For those with a sweet tooth.

ORANGE & LAVENDER

A refreshing and light orange sponge with a distinctive hint of lavender. I grind up Cotswold lavender with the sugar for the batter and then drizzle a homemade aromatic lavender orange sugar syrup over the sponge when freshly out of the oven. Very popular.

WHITE CHOCOLATE & RASPBERRY

I was recently asked to make four different chocolate flavours for a chocoholic couple so made a White Chocolate and Raspberry cake (along with Chocolate and Rum, Decadent Chocolate and Salted Caramel). Having trialled lots of different recipes, in the end I combined the best two stand out winners by using small but distinctive white chocolate chunks and also using fresh raspberries (from the garden when available) in the light, springy sponge to stop if from being too sweet with a white chocolate ganache. This cake is absolutely delicious but be warned… it’s seriously addictive (and I didn’t think I liked white chocolate!)

NEW!

TIRAMISU

I’ve been asked to make a Coffee & Walnut cake a few times however all the recipes I tried I wasn’t ever totally thrilled with the results as the coffee never seemed strong enough. This cake is the answer. OMG… I love this cake and was so excited when I first made it as it really is like eating a really good Tiramisu! Please note, due to using mascarpone, I’ll only make this for top tiers as it’s so light.
